Every year, when the clock strikes 12 and the date changes from Oct 19th to Oct 20th, an aut0-mode kicks in. Almost without thinking, I reach for my mobile (I always stay awake till past midnight on that night) and compose a short text.

“Happy birthday, you! Have a GREAT day ahead, ya! Hugs”

Then I send over a secret smile.
Knowing that it will reach you and spread across your face.
Shortly after, your reply will come across the miles.

“Thanks, you! Hugs”

We don’t see much of each other.
We don’t talk much to each other.
Heck, we don’t even write much to each other anymore.
(Life happened)

Yet, there is this bond between us. Across the miles. That will never, ever, ever be broken. No matter how far apart we are. How old we’ve grown. H0w much we’ve moved on.

I know certain things may seem rather tough lately. Hopeless, even. Have faith in yourself and your abilities. I believe, that only great things happen to great folks like you. Really, I do.

This was for 2007.
This was for 2008.
Now you have 2009.

I promise – there will be many more to come each year.
